| Texas Police Chiefs in Italy - april 2008 |
Dtc Pal srl – is established in Ivrea in the North West of Italy. We have a ten year experience in the organization of training courses for people who work in Local Public Administration in Italy.
Since 2002 one of our most interesting activity is to plan and develop programmes for Police Forces, particularly weeks of study for chiefs and for officers belonging to foreign and different Police Forces.
We organize groups of Italian policemen going to visit foreign police forces (UE and not UE) and for foreign police forces coming to visit italian’s police model.
This year, in april, we’ve realized the most important experience by now, having here in Ivrea a group of 12 chiefs of Police Departments of Texas (USA), with Mrs Martinez, responsible for the International Police Program at Sam Houston State University of Huntsville, Texas. With LEMIT, their institution, we’ve contacts for both kind of exchanging programmes since 2003.

The matter of the visit was to know and to experience the Italian model of Security, the penitentiary system and border’s controls.
By request, our programme has comprehended a day in class, meeting some representants of the 7 corps of police existing and operating in Italy: State Police, Arma dei carabinieri, Guardia di Finanza, Polizia Penitenziaria, Corpo Forestale dello Stato, Polizia Municipale e Polizia Provinciale.
In this day roles and functions of each corp has been presented to them.
Then a certain number of meeting have followed: there have been practical and demonstrative meeting with the State Police, Arma dei Carabinieri, Municipal Police and Penitentiary Police; they’ve also visited the prison of Ivrea.
The Texan delegates have also met Lugano’s City Police, with whom we have a cooperation since 2002.
There has been a visit to CCDP of Chiasso (the Centre for Police and Borders Cooeperation between Italy and Switzerland), to show border’s controls and activity with a country not belonging to UE.
Finally they have met Marine Police of Genova (State Police) to learn about controls made on people coming and going by sea.
The programme was also established to enjoy free time all togheter. They had some cultural visits like the Shroud Museum in Turin, The Castle of Masino near Ivrea (built from XI century)
And the Fortress of Bard; they’ve appreciated Piemontese cooking.
In the organization of each group DTC PAL provides for all authorizations necessaries to meet Italian police forces, ad for aech visit in prison, police schools and so on.
We think about the accommodation of every people coming: from hotel, to breakfast, lunch and dinner. In the program are also provided travels, tickets, guided tours and translation from Italian to English.
